What to see in the environment of Szczecin?!

For those of you who decided to come earlier or stay longer, Szczecin and it's environment offer a variety of things to do & see.
Although the city centre was hit hard by WWII bombings, certain parts have been restored to former glory. The cathedral is one of them, but another section certainly to visit is the 'castle' (or Zamek in Polish) and it's surroundings at the river front (the big white building). Also the river front itself, with some terrasses, restaurant boats and musea and maritime school, in old grandeur restored, are nice to see. From there one can enjoy the buzy shipyard (or the high water if by that time it reached Szczecin) and the barges floating by.
Another nice area is the main park with it's impressive momument at the end of the aleja Jana Pawela II. On good days with good weather, the park is filled with students and couples.
Other, a bit more 'off the beaten track' visits can be made to the tower of the Pazim building (at the Placz Grunwaldzki), where from a bar/restaurant at the 22nd floor (properly called 'Cafe22), one can get a very nice overview over the city, the docks and the adjacent hills!

Further to the north there is the coastal region around Miedzyzdroje & Swinoujscie (and the adjaced German part), which attracts a lot of tourists. With nice beaches, swamps & forests and a interesting history of leasure area during German & communist times, it offers sufficient ingredients for a nice couple of extra days.
